Conference accessibility

June 14-16, 2019

The Creative Nonfiction Collective (CNFC) conference takes place at the University of British Columbia, principally in the Walter Gage Residence. The CNFC is committed to providing as welcoming and accessible an environment as possible for all conference attendees and visitors.

The meeting space at Walter Gage Residence is fully wheelchair accessible, with ramps leading into the lobby space, flat floor access to all meeting rooms, and all-gender accessible washrooms. There are seven accessible suites in the Gage Apartments and two in West Coast Suites.  Here is a footprint and accessibility map.

The play, Sea Sick, will be performed in the Telus Theatre in the Chan Centre at UBC on Saturday, June 15. The Chan Centre is able to fully accommodate those with mobility-related accessibility needs. When approaching the Chan Centre entrance from the top of the stairwell off of Main Mall, there is an elevator located near the flag pole plaza, south-west of the main doors to the Chan Centre.

There is an elevator in the Rose Garden Parkade, and a number of accessible parking stalls can be found on level five.

A map and detailed access info for the Chan Centre can be found here.

Our banquet and cabaret will be held at the Sage Bistro in the Leon and Thea Koerner University Centre which is also fully wheelchair accessible. There is an accessible entrance and a lift for wheelchairs in the restaurant area. The wheelchair accessible entrance is located on the left side of the building. Please see here for more details.

Allergies: Please refrain from using scented products as a courtesy to those with chemical sensitivities.

Visual or hearing impairments: there will be seats available at the front of meeting rooms for attendees with visual or hearing impairments. Speakers will be asked to speak clearly and look at the audience while speaking.

CNFC committee members will be available to assist with doors and directions to the venues.
